Summary:
The Finance Fellow will support the daily essential operations of a nonprofit Finance team. Reporting to the Staff Accountant and Human Resources Associate, this role is an essential part of the overall effectiveness of the Finance and Human Resources team.
In 2025–26, the Finance Fellow will also assist with administrative support for a range of short- and long-term projects and initiatives, gaining experience in database management and Finance compliance. The Fellow will be trained to use applicable accounting and human resources software platforms. After completing the Finance Fellowship, we expect that the Fellow will be ready for a wide variety of positions, such as Finance and Human Resources roles at any organization, administrative roles at other arts and entertainment organizations, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
55% (~22 hours per week) - Daily operations of department
- Provide overall administrative support to the Finance office, including payroll, accounts payable and HR functions
- Assist Staff Accountant with preparation of weekly financial settlements for Roundabout productions and commercial productions renting Roundabout theaters
- Assist with annual audit, track and reissue stale dated checks
- Assist with processing unemployment and worker’s compensation claims and the management of these claims
- Perform various HR reporting tasks including the administration of personnel files, Playbill updates, and new hire reporting
- Work on various short- and long-term Finance and HR projects and tasks as needed
30% (~10 hours per week) – Long term projects
- Create searchable database of applicant information and analyze trends to help HR determine if new recruiting strategies need to be implemented
- Audit current vendor list to assess if the institution is meeting its goal to use new, broader set of vendors
- Assist with the annual stale dated check project, including mail merging documents and reaching out to payees
10% (~16 hours per month) – Mentoring and professional development/training Events
- Meeting with an interdepartmental mentor once every two months
- Alumni events
- Meet & greets with other theatre companies and their workforce program cohorts
- Conference attendance
5% (~8 hours per month) – Weekly seminars and workshops
- Meet + Q&A with all Senior Staff at Roundabout
- Professional skills workshops such as Planning a Season, Production Budgets, Professional Organizations for Arts Administrators, Resume Review & Interview Practice, etc.
What you bring to the Finance Department:
- Computer savvy; Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and basic formulas is a must (other Microsoft Office skills is a plus)
- Attention to detail, organization, time management and strong clerical skills. Data-driven and analytical
- The ability to maintain confidentiality
- High proficiency in both verbal and written communication
- Personable; the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
- Willingness to learn new software and skills
- The ability to work autonomously, under pressure and stay on top of deadlines
